AMCA 4/5/08

This weeks meeting was held at Eskham House Farm courtesy of Preston MX club. The club had worked hard to get the track ready for their first race meeting of the season but the rain had other ideas. Rain appeared quite early in the morning ensuring difficult conditions for the practise and most of the first block of racing.

We had a full complement of Rocket riders out for this Sundays meeting, three team mates sat side by side in the MX2 expert class. Rob Clitheroe had three excellent races, he was first past the chequered flag in his first two races but was beaten to the flag by his team mate Lee Payne in the third race. After having half the track stuck in his back wheel as he took a detour through the ropes in race one, Lee Payne came back to take second place in race two and first place in race three. Lee Buck just back from the beaches of Tenerife rode well in this MX2 experts race taking fourth place in race one before he had to retire from his second race due to an injury. The honour of the overall first place went to Rob Clitheroe with his team mate Lee Payne in second position and Michael Reynolds in third.

The MX1 experts class proved a real crowd puller as these big bikes took to the track in what had to be some of the best racing of the day. Lee Buck joined his team mate Rob Clitheroe on the start gate, Lee had a great start to this race but unfortunately had to retire due to a collision. Lee then had to retired from racing due to an injury he picked up in the MX2 experts.
Rob Clitheroe rode his Yamaha 450f well in race one but had to retire due to tape being caught in his back brake pad but in race two Rob was back to take second place. Race three saw Lee Payne putting Robs team bike through its paces with very exciting results. Lee was second out of the start gate but it was not long before he took the lead from Aaron Crowder, Lee stormed ahead leaving a large gap between him and second place man Aaron to take the chequered flag with ease. The overall win was taken by Aaron Crowder with Sean Eckersley in second and Michael Smith from the Rossendale taking home the third place trophy.

In the MX2 seniors race Dave "Flash" Parrington and young Joe Entwistle are the two riders who represent the Rocket centre team. Dave had a good start to the days racing finishing in seventh place in race one, fifth place in race two and Dave came just outside of the top ten in his third race. Joe rode well in very tricky conditions in race one, to finish just outside of the top ten, a collision on the first bend with other riders in race two, where Joe's bike came of worst! meant although he was able to finish his second race Joe had to retire from the rest of the days racing. Andrew Noakley took the overall race win with last weeks winner Ross Harrison in second and Ben Singleton in third.

Congratulations once again to Lawrence Allen as he added a third place trophy to his
collection in the MX2 juniors under 18's.

Unfortunately we do not have any results from the Bank holiday Monday meeting as our Rocket Centre team riders did not compete at this meeting.

Next weeks meeting is courtesy of Ashton Vale MX club at Brogden Hall farm where camping is allowed, as usual the Rocket spares van will be on site for you to purchase any parts or products you may need. If you would like us to bring any thing to this meeting please contact the off road department before Saturday and we will do our best to ensure we bring it with us. We hope to have a full line up of team riders for this event, so why not come and meet the team, view the 08 bikes and show your support for the Rocket Centre.
