AMCA 3/8/08
Rossendale held their final meeting of the season this weekend, club members had worked hard to insure the track was in excellent condition for the the third round of the North West Championships. With Robert Clitheroe still recovering from his operation and Lee Payne at the championships it was left up to Lee Buck, Dave "Flash" Parrington and Joe Entwistle to represent the Rocket Centre and all three took trophies home!
Lee Buck still recovering from an injury picked up at Haverigg once again decided to concentrate on just one of the expert races the mx1 experts, Lee had three very good races despite his injury. In race one Lee was in the top positions on the first bend and raced well to take the chequered flag in fourth place. Race two was almost a carbon copy of his first as he again finished in fourth position. Race three saw Lee out of the start gate in third place and as the race progressed the top three riders raced ahead of the rest of the field, Lee finished in a well deserved third place and took the overall fourth place trophy. The overall win went to Aaron Crowder with Dave Wright in second, Matthew Williamson in third, Rocket rider Lee in fourth and Micheal Smith in fifth place. Rossendale club certainly had a good day in this class as all these riders are Rossendale members.
The overall positions for the mx2 experts, Matthew Williamson in first place, Jake Farnell in second, Martyn Gregory in third, Gary Ashcroft in fourth and Paul Bowen in fifth place.

Two riders represented the Rocket Centre in mx2 seniors, Dave "Flash" Parrington and Joe Entwistle. In race one Dave was in a good position as he rounded the first bend, he rode well though out his race to finish in fourth place. Race two saw Dave with a much better position out of the start gate, he quickly moved up into second riding well to take the flag in second place. Another brilliant start to the third race but just as Dave was moving into second position he was hit by a stone from the track and unfortunately he had to retire from the race although he still managed to pick up the overall third place trophy. Young Joe had a brilliant day on his home track, in race one Joe rode his Yamaha 250f well as he made his way from mid pack to first passed the chequered flag. Race two saw Joe with a much stronger start and he quickly pulled away from the rest of the field to take the win with ease. Race three was Joe's best race of the day as he quickly moved into the lead, the gap widened as the race went on and as Joe passed the finishing flag he had built up an astonishing lead to take the race win and the overall first place trophy with maximum points. Second place went to Anthony Hartley, Rocket rider Dave in third, Kyle Platt in fourth and Gareth Harvey in fifth place.
