This weeks racing was courtesy of Rossendale MX club, the club changed the track around for this meeting and ran it backwards. The members had worked hard to ensure it was ready for the days racing and this showed as the track was in good condition for the start of the days racing. The rain did put in an appearance part way into the first block but this did not dampen the enthusiasm of the riders or the many spectators who spent their Sunday watching some brilliant racing.
The Rocket Centre had four riders competing at this meeting with Lee Payne busy winning the second round of the I.M.B.A MX2 European Championships in the Czech Republic (see separate race report) it was up to Rob, Lee B, Flash and Joe to represent the team and they all went home with trophies to polish!
Rob joined Lee B on the start gate in the mx1 experts class, in race one Rob battled all the way from the start gate to the chequered flag with Aaron Crowder, but it was Aaron who took the win with Rob in second position. In race two Rob made a mistake as he went to challenge for first place, this cost him race positions and he finished in fourth place, after a bad start to race three Rob finished this race in third position, unusually for Rob he ended up with the overall third place trophy. With Lee B riding on his home turf he rode his Yamaha 450f well in all three of his races to take seventh place in race one, fifth place in race two and sixth place in race three for him to take the overall fifth place. The overall win went to Aaron Crowder, Yamaha rider Dave Wright in second, Rocket rider Rob in third, Paul Coward in fourth and Rocket rider Lee B with the overall fifth place trophy.
In the mx2 experts class Rob and Lee B decided to race in just the first block of the three with Rob taking the race win and Lee B finishing in seventh place. The overall win went to Michael Reynolds, Shaun Scrivens in second, Gary Ashcroft in third, Ryan Crowder in fourth and David Hartley in fifth place .
In the mx2 seniors Dave "Flash" Parrington and Joe Entwistle sat side by side in the start gate, Dave had a brilliant start to races one and two as he took the chequered flag in second position in both of these races. In race three Dave battled hard to take fourth position resulting in him
missing out on the first place trophy by just one point, never mind Dave there's always next week! Young Joe made his way through the pack after a bad start in race one to finish in sixth place, a much better start to race two saw Joe take the race win with some brilliant riding but in race three Joe collided bikes on the start straight and finished just outside the top ten to pick up the overall fifth place trophy. The overall win went to Gareth Harvey, Rocket rider Dave in second, Elliot Booth in third, Anthony Hartley in fourth and Rocket rider Joe took home the fifth place trophy.
