AMCA 27/4/08

This weeks meeting was held courtesy of Blackpool MCC, the club members had worked hard to get the track in brilliant condition. As practise got under way the rain decided to pay us a visit, and boy did it rain. By the time the first block of racing was under way the conditions where to say the least slippery, as the day went on they did improve slightly until the last block of racing when the heavy rain made conditions difficult for the riders.

As we were all getting soaked with rain this weekend, Bucky, Karen and little Jack were soaking up the sun in Tenerife!! (Do you think they knew something we didn't) so Lee Payne and Rob Clitheroe represented the team Rockets in the Experts classes. After track conditions deteriorated, Rob took the decided not to continue with the days racing. Lee how ever once again took command of both mx1 and mx2 expert classes, at times he must have been thinking he was the only one on the track as very large gaps appeared between him and the rest of the field as he added two more trophies to his ever expanding collection.

In the Mx2 seniors Dave "Flash" Parrington sat side by side on the start gate with his young team mate Joe "Enty". The first block of racing saw these two riders taking turns to have mud baths but the second block saw much better race conditions and riding from the team boys. Dave had a brilliant start to this race taking third position from the drop of the gate to the chequered flag. After a bad start to his second race Joe came from the back of the pack to finish in eighth place.
The last block of racing saw the weather take a turn for the worst so Joe made the decision not to carry on with the days racing, Dave braved the conditions but after with another great start lost control on the slippery track and dropped down to finish in sixth position. The race win was taken by Ross Harrison from the Blackpool club with Rory Preston in second and Glynn Davies taking home the third place trophy.

Congratulations to Lawrence Allan for taking his first race wins of the season in the mx2 juniors under 18s this weekend on his Yamaha 250f, I'm sure there's plenty more to come in the future.

Next weeks meeting is to be held at Eskham House Farm, as Preston hold their first meeting of the season. This is a two day event Sunday and Monday where camping will be allowed on Sunday only at a charge of £5. As usual the Rocket centre spares van will be on site for you to purchase any parts or products you may need, if you would like us to bring anything to this meeting please contact the off road section before Saturday and we will do our best to ensure we have it with us. We hope to have a full complement of team riders for this weekends racing, so why not join us, check out the team bikes and show your support to the Rocket lads.
