AMCA 26/5/08

The rain held off once again as Rossendale held their second meeting of the weekend and of the season at Whalley Nab; the track had been graded and watered making it ready for the days racing. Once again Rocket riders Rob Clitheroe and Joe Entwistle represented the team at this meeting both riders taking home trophies for their mums to polish.

With both the expert classes being amalgamated Rob made the decision to ride in the mx1 experts class on his 450f Yamaha, I’m sure you won’t be surprised to hear that once again he took all three race wins with great ease. As the races got under way Rob took control of the track from the first lap, by the time he passed the chequered flag he had built up a large lead from the rest of the field. Rob took the overall first place with maximum points with Matthew Williamson in second, Scott Westley in third, Steven Meikle in fourth and Philip Martindale from Rossendale taking home the fifth place trophy.

The overall trophy winners from the mx2 experts were Jake Farnell with the overall first place, Gary Ashcroft in second, Ryan Crowder in third, Sam Entwistle in fourth and Sam Smith with the overall fifth place.

In the mx2 seniors Rocket rider Joe had a much better day than Sunday, a great start in race one saw Joe battling with the race leader to take second place. Following a red flag incident in race two Joe fought his way through the field to finish in third, then in race three took the chequered flag in third position to take the overall second place trophy. Rossendale mx club did very well in this class as all 5 trophy winners came from their club! The overall win went to Ben Singleton, Rocket rider Joe in second, Rory Preston in third, Gareth Harvey in fourth and Ryan Martindale took home the fifth place trophy.

Next weeks racing is courtesy of Lancaster mx club at Haverigg, camping will be allowed after 4pm on Saturday. Please note the Rocket centre spares van will not be on site for this meeting so make sure you call in to purchase any parts or produces you may need for this meeting prior to Sunday, sorry for the inconvenience. Some of our Rocket riders have raced this track before and tell me it’s brilliant so their really looking forward to this weekend, should produce some excellent racing! The weather is forecast to be good so why not have a day out at the seaside, watch some great racing and support our Rocket riders.
