It was Rossendale part 1 this Sunday as the club held their first meeting of the season and of the weekend at Whalley Nab. The club members had worked hard to prepare the track and paddock for this bank holiday double header. The Rocket Centre had just two team riders out this weekend Rob Clitheroe and Joe Entwistle but this did not stop them from taking home three trophies between them.

Rob rode in both the mx1 and mx2 experts totally dominating both these classes. In the mx1 experts Rob had three great rides leading the field from the first lap in. With no other rider coming close to challenge for the lead, Rob took the chequered flag with ease taking the overall win with maximum points. The overall second place went to Matthew Williamson from the Rossendale club with Wayne Pudge in third, Philip Martindale in fourth and Scott Westley picking up the fifth place trophy.

In the mx2 experts a large number of spectators gathered to see if Rob could do it again and he didn’t disappoint them as once again Rob lead the field from the first lap to take wins in all three of his races as he rode his Yamaha 250f to maximum points and overall first place. Gary Ashcroft took the second place trophy with Matthew Williamson in third, Martin Gregory in fifth and Jake Farnell taking fifth place on his home track.

Rocket rider Joe represented the team in the mx2 seniors, he had a brilliant start to the days racing as he took second place in race one. After a bad start to race two and a few mistakes Joe made his way from the back of the pack to finish just outside of the top ten. In race three Joe collided with another rider on the first lap but rode well to close the gap and finish in eighth place to take the overall fourth place. Ben Singleton took the overall win with Ryan Martindale in second, John Marsh in third, Rocket rider Joe in fourth and Paul Pickup taking home the fifth place trophy.

Tomorrow Rossendale hold their second meeting of the Bank holiday at Whalley Nab. Hope you can make it!
