AMCA 22/6/08

What a brilliant days racing it was this week- end as Charnock held their second race meeting of the season. The club members had worked hard on the track and this showed as it was in fantastic condition for the start of the days racing.
With Rocket rider Lee Payne at the championships his four team mates represented the Rocket centre at this meeting.
In the mx1 experts Lee Buck and Rob Clitheroe sat side by side on the start gate, Rob quickly took the race lead in all three of his races to take the chequered flag and the overall win with ease. Lee had three brilliant rides on his Yamaha 450f, in races one and two Lee remained in third place from the start gate to the chequered flag and race three saw Lee finish in fourth place to take the overall third place trophy. The overall first place went to Rocket rider Rob, Matthew Williamson in second, Rocket rider Lee in third, Wayne Pudge in fourth and Robert Carter from the Rossendale club took the overall fifth place.
Both expert riders Rob and Lee rode the popular Yamaha 250f in the mx2 experts, in races one and two Rob once again quickly opened up a large lead from the rest of the field so in race three Rob challenged himself as he gave the other riders a head start. But this did not stop him from being first past the finish line as he made his way through the pack to take the third win and maximum points. Lee rode in just two of this groups races, after a bad start to race one Lee came back to finish in ninth place, in race two an altercation with a tree left Lee with an injury his arm, Lee chose not to race in the third race. Rocket rider Rob took the overall win with Matthew Williamson in second, Gary Ashcroft in third, Jak Cooper in fourth and Michael Gray in fifth position.
Dave "Flash" Parrington and Joe Entwistle represented the Rocket team in the mx2 seniors, Dave had a good start in race one but a collision with another rider resulted in him finishing just outside of the top ten. Race two was almost a carbon copy for Dave as once again a collision with another rider cost him his race position. In race three Dave got a brilliant start as he was out of the start gate in second, third lap in and Dave injured his leg resulting in him retiring from the race.
A much better days racing for Joe, in race one he led the pack from the start to take the race win with ease, in race two Joe once again took the race win as he and second place rider Gareth Harvey raced ahead of the Field. Race three saw Joe get caught up in a collision on the second bend resulting in him being way behind the rest of the riders, having a lot of catching up to do he had the ride of the season as he made his way through the pack to take third place and the overall win. The overall second place went to Chester Martin, Gareth Harvey in third, Kyle Platt in fourth and Anthony Hartley took home the overall fifth place trophy.

Young James Hart from the Rossendale club broke his wrist at this meeting I can tell you he has had an operation to reset if and is now at home, we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Next weeks racing will be held at Whalley Nab as Rossendale hold their third meeting of the season, camping is allowed at £5.00. The Rocket Centre spares van will be on site for you to purchase any parts or products you may need and don't forget if you would like us to bring anything to this meeting please contact the off road department before Saturday and we will do our best to bring it along with us.
