AMCA 20/4/08
Well at long last the A.M.C.A North West group finally got under way this weekend as Charnock held the first race of the 2008 season. The club members had worked hard on the track and paddock to enable the meeting to run smoothly through out the day.
Two of the Rocket riders represented the team at this weekends meeting, both are new riders for the 2008 season. Rob Clitheroe has been out of action since dislocating his pelvis at Hawkstone in March 2007 but he certainly made his come back felt on his debut as a Rocket Centre team rider. In the mx2 experts Rob dominated the field with three excellent rides leading from start to finish in all three of his races. Rob took home the first place trophy with Matthew Williamson from the Rossendale club in second position and Mick Reynolds in third place.
The mx1 experts race turned out to be a real nail biter as Rob and Aaron Crowder battled it out from the drop of the gate to the chequered flag in all three of their races, at times there seemed to be just Rob and Aaron on the track as they raced ahead of the rest of the riders. But it was Aaron who took the overall race win as he just pipped Rob to the flag in all three races, Rob finished in second position adding another trophy to his collection with Shaun Eckersley in third place. This race is certainly going to be the one to keep your eyes on this season race fans!!
Also making his debut this weekend was mx2 senior rider Joe Entwistle, he too is a new Rocket Centre team rider and is the youngest member of our team. Joe was out of action for most of last season following major surgery but is thrilled to be a team member for the 08 season riding his 08 Yamaha 250f. Joe had a great start to his race season as he finish third in race one and fifth in races two and three, just missing out on the third place trophy. Jake Farnell took the overall first place with Ross Harrison in second and Elliot Booth taking home the third place trophy.
Lee Buck and Dave "Flash" Parrington took a trip up to Dean Moor for the British Masters this weekend, Lee had a great start to the series finishing 15th, 12th, 10th, and 9th, he is currently placed 8th overall. Dave also rode well as he qualified for the main racing picking up some good positions through out the weekends. Good luck to these two team riders for the rest of the British Masters series.
Rocket rider Lee Payne travelled to Italy for the IMBA this weekend unfortunately the event had to be cancelled due to poor weather conditions. So its not just the North West of England that gets the rain!
Lets hope the weather is kind to us this coming weekend the 27/4/08 as Blackpool hold their first meeting of the season at Turnover Farm, campers are welcome but please park where directed. As usual the Rocket Centre van will be on site for you to purchase any parts or products you may need, if you would like us to bring anything to this meeting please contact the off road department before Saturday and we will bring it along with us. We hope to have a full complement of riders for you to meet at this meeting so why not come down to Turnover met the team, view the new team bikes and cheer our boys on.
