This week’s facing took place at the famous Hawkstone Park, for those lucky enough to have been there I’m sure you’ll agree it was a fantastic weekend. A big thank-you must go to Gill and Dave Corbally for all their hard work in the planning and work on the day for this event which ensured the week-end was a great success.
Although the rain came down on Saturday night this didn’t dampen the enthusiasm of the riders who were all eager to tackle this technical track which was remarkable good condition considering the amount of rain that had fallen the night before.
First out were the MX1 championship riders who drew the biggest crowd of the day, Aaron Crowder had a good start to the championship finishing in seventh place in race one, ninth in race two but unfortunately a pile up at the beginning of race three meant Aaron took the chequered flag in twelfth place to finish eighth overall. The overall win went to Glen Phillips, Lee Payne in second and Richard Cannings in third.
Young Ryan Crowder followed in his dad’s steps and lined up on the start gate but this time in the MX2 Championship, with a full gate Ryan had three good steady races to finish midway in all three races to a take the overall thirtieth position. The overall win went to Shane Holmes, Phil Mercer in second and lee Dunham in third. The next round of the Championship is due to take place on 16th May at Bromsberrow so all to ride for.
The open experts race saw MX1 and MX2 riders sat side by side to form a full start gate, Lee Buck had three good races battling hard on this championship track. Lee finished in fourth place in race one, seventh in race two and passed the chequered flag in fourth place in race three to take the overall third place. Dave “Flash” Parrington had his magic breakfast again as he had a great start to race one to finish in ninth place. Unfortunately Dave hit the dirt in races two and three dropping him down the overall finishing board. There was also some good racing from Sam Entwistle who finished in tenth place in race one, fourth place in race two but following a tumble in his last race meant he had to retire from the race but still managed to finish in eighth overall. Young Michael Smith from the Rossendale club took the overall win with maximum points, Chris Saunders in second and Rocket rider Lee Buck took home the overall third place trophy.
There will be no North West meeting taking place this coming week-end; the next meeting will take place on 16th May courtesy of Rossendale MX club at Whalley Nab. As usually the Rocket Centre spares van will be on site for you to purchase any parts or produces you may need but if you would like us to bring anything to this meeting please contact the off road section the Friday before the meeting. Look forward to seeing you at the next meeting and thank you for your continuing support.
