AMCA 18-4-10 Charnock Richard

Well the weather was certainly kind as Charnock Richard MCC held their first race meeting of the season at Whittle Mill farm, who would have thought the water tanker would be needed this early in the season! But what we have to remember it is we do live in Britain!

MX2 experts got the days racing underway, don’t know what Dave “Flash” Parrington had for his breakfast but he was the one with the hole shot and lead the race for the first lap before a mistake dropped him down the pack to finish in fifth place. Sam Entwistle had a good start to his first race as he rounded the first bend in third and easily held this position to the chequered flag. Race two saw Dave again with a fantastic start holding onto third position before coming off his bike due to jolting his leg in a rut forced him to retire from this race on the rest of the days racing. Following a bad start and an off over the far side of the track Sam managed to make his way through the riders to finish in sixth position. As the beginning of the third race Sam was in overall third position, a better start to his final race saw him move up to second place easily take the chequered flag in this position. Overall winner went to young Matt Williamson with Roy Hind in second and Sam Entwistle taking home the third place trophy.

The MX1 experts race is always a real crowd pleaser especially when Rob Clitheroe and Lee Buck are on the start gate. Race one saw Rob lead from the start gate to the chequered flag lapping most of the field. Lee had a great start to his first race of the day, taking his Yamaha 450f over the finish line in third position with ease. Race two was almost a carbon copy of race one with Rob taking charge of the field with the race win and Lee passing the chequered flag in third. In race three Rob was beaten to the whole shot by team mate Lee who held on to the lead for the first lap before Rob found a way through to claim first place and the overall win. A mistake by Lee cost him a few race positions as he finished his final race in fourth position. With the overall first place trophy going to Rob Clitheroe, Sean Eckersley in second and Lee Buck in overall third position.

Next week’s race meeting is courtesy of Leigh MCC, don’t forget this is your last chance to race before Hawkstone Park at May Bank holiday weekend for those riders lucky enough to signed on for this meeting. So get yourself down to Astley Raceway and cheer on the rocket race team.
