Blackpool mx club held the final round of the North West championship this weekend at a very soggy and muddy Turnover Farm. The club couldn't have done any more to improve the track conditions, it was due to the large volume of rain that fell from Saturday afternoon onwards, conditions improved slightly as the day went by but the club decided to run just two blocks of racing. Well done to those of you who raced these tricky conditions and also to those of you who had the cleaning up job after each race. Now that's dedication!!
The Rocket centre had two trophy winning riders competing at this meeting, Lee Buck rode his Yamaha 450f in the mx1 experts and Joe Entwistle rode the popular Yamaha 250f in the mx2 seniors.
In the mx1 experts race although the conditions were difficult Lee rode well in his first race to take the chequered flag in fourth place. Lee had a much better start to his second race as he come round the first bend in second, he managed to hold on to this race position to take the chequered flag in second, and the overall second position. The overall win went to Sean Eckersley, Rocket rider Lee in second and Stephen Meikle took the overall third place trophy.
The results from the mx2 experts, Jake Farnell took the overall win, Jonathan Dutton in second and Matthew Williamson in third.
In the mx2 seniors Joe's first race was very disappointing for him as a mistake on the last lap cost him the race win as he crossed the finishing line just behind the race leader. In race two Joe took the difficult conditions in his stride as he soon opened up a large lead from the rest of the field, he even had time to wave to the crowd as he took the chequered flag with ease and the overall win in what could possibly be his last race as a senior rider. Whist Rocket rider Joe taking the overall win the second place went to Paul Pickup and Kyle Platt took home the third place trophy.
The Rocket team have done well in the Northwest championships as Lee Buck takes second in the mx1 experts, Joe Entwistle takes the win in the mx2 seniors and the points win and Dave "Flash" Parrington takes the fifth place in the same class. As Joe has won the championship and Dave has taken the fifth place both these riders are now to be moved up to the mx2 experts class at the next race meeting, good luck to both these riders and well done to all three riders for their achievements in the championships.
You will be please to hear that team rider Rob Clitheroe is making good progress following his operation, we wish him well for his continuing recovery.
Next Sundays racing will be held at Brogden Hall Farm courtesy of Ashton Vale mx club, camping is allowed but please be aware the gates will be locked at 9pm, the Bank holiday meeting has been cancelled due to low entries. As usual the Rocket Centre spares van will be on site for you to purchase any parts or products you may require and if you would like us to bring anything to this meeting please contact the off road section before Saturday and we will do our best to bring it along with us. We hope you can join us this weekend as Dave and Joe make their debut in the experts class, I know they would appreciate your support as would the rest of the team, so get yourself down to Brogden to show your support for our lads.
